Nikita Mndoyants, pianist

This season the Jacobs Concert Series has chosen the young, impressive, pianist Nikita Mndoyants as the featured performer for the Vola Jacobs Memorial Piano Recital.   At only 27 years old, Nikita Mndoyants impressive list of accomplishments seemingly belies his age. He has toured throughout China, Estonia, France, Germany, Israel, Italy, Latvia, Portugal, Russia, Spain, Switzerland, and the U.S. and appeared in major concert halls in Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Paris. Earlier this year he made his Carnegie Hall debut.  Mndoyants gave his first public recital at age eight, and recorded his first CD at age ten.  Not only has he toured extensively, he has repeatedly impressed at competition.  Mr. Mndoyants won first prize at the 2016 Cleveland International Piano Competition, first prize at the 2007 Paderewsky International Piano Competition, and was a finalist at the 2013 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition.

“There comes a time when a rising talent comes onto the scene so polished that there isn’t much to say other than to simply applaud it.”  – Donald Hunt, Pianist Magazine

Vola O'Connor Jacobs was an integral part of the musical fabric of Augusta for most of her life.  A graduate of the Eastman School of Music, she returned to her hometown of Augusta, performed often as soloist and concerto artist, and taught many hundreds of piano students, some of whom have become teachers of the next generation of pianists.  This concert is in memory of the significant contribution she made to music in Augusta and throughout the Southeastern United States.

This performance is presented by the Harry Jacobs Chamber Music Society and sponsored by the Augusta University Lyceum Series.
