The ABCs of Diversity and Inclusion - An Evening Program with Ms. Sonia Manzano

Ms. Sonia Manzano, a first-generation American of Latino descent has affected the lives of millions of parents and children since the early 1970s, when she played the role of “Maria” on Sesame Street.  She is also listed as one of Latina Magazine's 25 Greatest Latino Role Models Ever.

In her presentation based on her book, "Becoming Maria:  Love and Chaos in the South Bronx," Manzano shares the personal tale of the struggles she faced coming from a poor Puerto Rican family to eventually becoming one of the most influential Latinas in television.  This poignant and inspirational story is told with Manzano's signature humor and wit, making this a memorable presentation.
